This year Eiichi Saito’s workshop welcomes participants with some experience in taiko drumming. Explore simple improvisation and create new and exciting sounds together as a group. It’s sure to be two hours of good fun! (Participants must be able to drum freely over an underlying base rhythm.)
Instructor Profile
Eiichi was born on May 7, 1963 and grew up in Hiroshima prefecture. He joined Kodo in 1982 and has been a featured player on domestic and international tours, in collaborations with artists of various genres, and on recordings ever since. For over three decades he has invigorated and captivated audiences worldwide with his energetic performances. In addition to his stage activities, Eiichi also leads the extremely popular “Kodo Juku” workshops on Sado Island, which convey the power of taiko through self-discovery.
