Experience life on a farm by staying overnight in a farmhouse inn! The Kanai area is in the center of the island near Sado’s satoyama landscapes. The host is a unique family enjoying life on a farm. Your visit to Sado isn’t complete without experiencing everyday life as an island farmer.

What to bring (Required)

Car or rental car that can be driven by participant, bath towel, toiletries, sleepwear, comfortable clothing that can get soiled for farming experience.

Note

1) Outdoor Island Yu

Loft-style lodging in a mountain cabin run by a local father who is well versed in the wonders of Sado’s mountains. This lodging also has 25 years of history as mont-bell Outdoor Shop.

2) Minshuku Ueta

A farm guesthouse that is distinctly Sado. A farming couple will welcome you. The father also brews homemade doburoku, unrefined and rare sake made from Sado’s own koshihikari rice.

 

All lodgings are also private family homes, but have a permit to run a guesthouse. As for the meals, each guesthouse has a permit to run a restaurant compliant with food hygiene laws.

Selection and assignment of lodging is first come, first serve from the on-line registration form submissions.

Participants may be separated by gender in lodging assignments.

Groups of 3 to 5 people will be assigned a whole guesthouse.

Participants will be in shared rooms.

Bathrooms will be standard shared home bathrooms.

Check-in and check-out times, and transportation to/from the program site should be communicated to organizers at least one week prior to the program.
