Special Fringe: “Minakuchi-Sousha with Kodo”
Acknowledged by “Shiga-ken Mukei Minzoku Bunkazai” as an intangible folk cultural asset, Minakuchi Bayashi is the music that is performed for large festivals atop a hikiyama (festival float) at Minakuchi Shrine in Koka city in Shiga Prefecture. This style of music is highly popular throughout Japan and features melodies that are reminiscent of jazz, mambo, and contain characteristic tempo changes. In addition to the members of the local Minakuchi-Sousha, members of Kodo will participate in this performance!
