EVENT INFO

2018 Sado’s Three Great Folk Song National Contest

The sailors of the Kitamaebune (a shipping route in Japan from the Edo to the Meiji periods) brought the Hanya-bushi from Kyushu up east, where it became widely known as Sado Okesa. The Aikawa Ondo is representative of bon-odori songs whose lyrics and articulations were written about in The Tale of the Heike. Join us in this exuberant dance circle! Ryotsu Jinku is known for its solemn tone and indulgent festive accompaniment. All three song forms have been passed down from generation to generation and come together at this rare and spectacular event.
