Q: Which Shiroyama Concert do you recommend the most
A: They are all great concerts. We produce three different programs directed by three different artistic directors. We hope you enjoy all of them.
Aug. 22 (Fri) “UMI / OCEAN”, Artistic director: Mitsuru Ishizuka (Kodo), Performers: Kodo
Every year many people cross the ocean and come to Sado island to see the festival. Kodo performers put their forces together to celebrate the blessings of ocean. We hope the rhythm of taiko reaches every corner of the seven seas.
Aug. 23 (Sat) “DAICHI / EARTH”, Artistic director: Tsuyoshi Maeda (Kodo), Choreography in part: Tatsuya Hasegawa (DAZZLE), Performers: Kodo, Guest performers: BLUE TOKYO
BLUE TOKYO’s highly polished body movements. Kodo’s powerful drum beat. We hope to demonstrate the strength of the down-to-earth human being. Let’s drum and dance with Mother Earth.
Aug. 24 (Sun) “SHUKUSAI / CELEBRATION”, Artistic director: Yosuke Oda (Kodo), Choreography in part: Tatsuya Hasegawa (DAZZLE), Performers: Kodo, Guest performers: BLUE TOKYO, DAZZLE
Kodo’s dream is “one earth”. It’s the place many cultures and civilizations live in harmony. On the final day, DAZZLE and BLUE TOKYO join Kodo and celebrate the borderless world. Be one with the ocean and the earth. It’s the earth festival.
Every Shiroyama Concert is an originally and uniquely produced event, and a chance to see a Kodo performance that is quite different from their tour concerts.
