Sado Takigi Noh Performance

Introduction

Sado Takigi Noh Theatre is an annual favourite that will continue its tradition in 2015. Sado Island has a long history of Noh theater: Zeami, who is credited for perfecting the art form, was exiled to Sado Island, and the first magistrate on Sado was formerly a Noh performer. These days, Sado Island is still home to one third of Japan’s Noh stages. Nowadays one can experience more variety of Noh schools and performance styles on Sado than anywhere else in Japan. We hope you will come and experience Noh by firelight at one of these summer performances.

＊Takes about 1 hour by car from Ogi Area, the main EC venue.
Tickets Adult 3,000 yen（3,300 yen at the door）, Student（Ages 6-18） 1,500 yen（1,700 yen at the door）

  • Noh “Kakitsubata / Koi no Mai” featuring Reijiro Tsumura, Masamitsu Takahashi
  • Original dance performance “Toki” featuring Reijiro Tsumura, Hana Sakai, Kenta Kojiri

Guide to Shared Taxis

Guests may use Ogi-bound shared taxis which depart 15 minutes following the performance (reservations required, 2000 yen per person). Please email reservations to the Sado Koryu Net at kouryu@e-sadonet.tv with the name of the representative of your party, the number of people in your party, a cellphone number where you can be reached on the day of the reservation.

  • ＊It is possible to disembark mid-route, but the fare will remain 2000 yen per person.
  • ＊At registration prior to the performance, notify the staff that you are taking a shared taxi and make the payment in full. You will be notified of the departure location and time.
  • ＊If you fail to confirm your reservation before the performance and you cannot be reached prior to departure time, you may not be able to board the shared taxi.
  • ＊Taxis may depart without all confirmed passengers.
  • ＊Estimated travel time from Aikawa to Ogi area is approximately one hour; however, depending on the other passengers’ plans, there may be delays in the arrival time to the destination.
