J. Walking in Ogi with Junko Tabei(Full)
Back to MenuIntroduction
Known as the first female mountain climber to ever reach the summit of Mount Everest as well as the highest mountains on all seven continents, Junko Tabei was named Sado Tourism Ambassador last year. At the celebratory meeting, she shared her experience with “olle,” or walking path, a tradition which originated in Jeju Island in Korea. In the Jeju dialect, it means ‘the narrow path that connects the road to the house’ and it is a form of walking on an island enjoying the landscape of the ocean, forest and villages – a perfect activity for Sado Island. For this session, Tabei will introduce the charm of olle by leading the group on a walk through Ogi.
