Aug. 23 (Sun) Anju Tenjin Festival at Hatano, Sado
During Earth Celebration, another festival will take place: the local summer festival, Anju Tenjin Festival. Participants will enjoy its specialty “Nerimikoshi” and other local performing arts including five different Onidaiko (demon drum), Harukoma and Sado Folk Songs. In addition to a vibrant market, there will also be special cuisines including nagashi somen (flowing noodles) where somen noodles are sent flowing through a bamboo toi (a generic term for a channel), where customers catch it with chopsticks, and dip it in mentsuyu (broth) to eat. The Anju Tenjin Festival Eve will take place on Aug. 22 (Sat).
We encourage you to attend this local festival on Sado as well as Earth Celebration.
