All of you who come to experience, enjoy, exchange, create anew and evolve with Earth Celebration are part of our new EC community. Of course Kodo is there as well. Let us relish in all of our shared experiences.
We welcome guests from Vietnam to Kodo Village and invite you to experience the sounds and the feeling born out of their interactions with Kodo in an intimate setting.
In a small space we can experience things as one. We are thrilled to present three programs in our intimate playhouse, the Shukunegi Community Hall. Enjoy EC theatre, created by audiences and performers alike.
We’ve prepared a variety of hands-on programs in taiko, shinobue, song, and arts of Sado. Highlights include our first ever Katsugi Taiko workshop as well as sessions with the much talked-about EXADON, and taiko and shinobue ensemble.
Students will explore Sado’s sea, Shukunegi village and it's museum in search of the island’s sounds. What kind of music will be born when all these sounds come together? Let’s experience this sound camp together.
Our Lectures & Demonstrations give audience not only the opportunity to experience the magic of different art forms, but to access deeper knowledge about the philosophies and histories behind them. We are thrilled to welcome and introduce Minakuchi Bayashi from Shiga prefecture and Bac Ha from Vietnam.
Until now, you may have experienced Kasuga Ondeko, Hamakawachi Ondeko and Minamikatabe Ontaiko through workshops. This year, join us for the first-ever exchange program where you will be able to see each group in their home villages.
Immerse yourself in the enchantment of Sado Island. This program takes over the entire island on the second day of the festival, Saturday, August 27. We welcome you to experience the beauty of Sado’s communities.
This year the market will collaborate with the mobile outdoor art project Cinema Caravan, and have a new look.
Fringe typically means “on the outskirts of the main activities.” This year we will have a special stage for our Fringe performances within the Harbor Market. Come enjoy a wide range of performance genres.
Come to Earth Celebration early to experience this special performance! Enjoy outdoor bonfire noh theatre at the Aikawa Kasuga Shrine Stage.
This year we feature more activities prior to the main festival. Highlights of events during the festival include Snow Peak Camping, Mussanko Sado Matsuri, and an evening of fun with the Town of Sado Social Club.
