Enjoy Earth Celebration while camping with the staff of “Snow Peak” outdoor equipment makers based in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture. Immerse yourself in EC by day, and by night, indulge in social gatherings around bonfires with Snow Peak staff and Sado locals.

Within the town of Ogi is a performance hall, known for its “Speaking Arts of Essa” that has featured vaudevillian and folk entertainers from Sado and beyond. Through programs with a range of performances including gozeuta (female shamisen player and singer), kodan story-telling, and rokyoku narrative singing, come experience the history and present of the speaking arts of Essa.

Created by the Sado Bamboo Club dedicated to educating people about the allure of Sado’s bamboo, the Mussanko Sado Matsuri highlights island life. The festival features workshops that allow participants to experience daily life on Sado, Sado Arts Performance, and Sado’s organic market. Everyone is welcome!

A popular ticket at last year’s Earth Celebration, we are happy to bring this program back this year to introduce the cuisine and sake of Sado with the Town of Sado Social Club. This year’s program is slated to feature outdoor indulgences in the center region of Sado, along Sawada Beach and its expansive view of the summer sea.

The instructors based in Urasenke Tea Ceremony: Sado School of Tea Ceremony Association will attentively lead this workshop. There are two sessions: Parent-Child Tea Ceremony Experience (Course A) and General Adult Tea Ceremony Experience (Course B). We welcome you to come experience the “heart of Japan.”

Creative Summer Camp is a film-making camp program for young film creators run by my Japan, the organizers of the commercial competition for celebrating the appeal of Japan worldwide.

“The Past and Future of a Port of Call” is the theme for this inaugural Art Festival. Artists will gather, and the region, writers and audiences will become one to create a new space for art and a new value system for this new initiative.

Grown-ups and kids alike can come together and play hard with the local Sado “experts”! Where will you find your secret base?

It was the year 2000 when Japan’s representative kabuki onnagata performer, Bando Tamasaburo, first collaborated with Kodo. Now, 16 years later, Bando introduces his wide range of collaborative work with Kodo as well as the history of the company’s repertory through accessible commentary.

Join us in walking the dynamic Sado Long Trail with views of mountain and sea! This tour for strong walkers will travel the trail on foot to fully take in the beauty of Sado’s mountain and sea.

Revel in the vastness of the Sado sea from kayak, climb from the historic heritage site Sado Gold Mines to the highest peak of the Osado skyline by bicycle, then hike to the top of Mount Kinpoku in this major tournament immersed in history and the great outdoors.
